I have a special affinity for teddy bears since young. When I was a kid, I love to draw, colour and paint. I also love to do craftwork like knitting and making dolls. I appreciate Art a lot and the beautiful bears made by all the famous bear artists around the world never fail to amaze me.

It was a case of deepened love when I received my first artist bear made by an U.S bear artist about three years ago. I remembered staring at it in awe for hours and refusing to put it away. My lifelong love for bears gradually blossomed and I am now a collector of many bears from different artists around the world.

My strong desire to know more about bears has spurred me to seek further insights at a bear-making workshop. From there, I learn not only bear-making, I was ushered into the world of artist bears. I was truly inspired and wish to create my own bears one day!

I have always wanted to do what I enjoy doing, but my aspirations are often buried under the demands of my full-time day job. The idea of having my own teddy bear shop finally crystallized when I met Emen Chen (Singapore’s renowned bear artist) and shared with him this passion of mine. He is someone I really admire and I have collected so many of his bears. With Emen’s help and expertise, and together with my very supportive husband, Chong, I am able to realize my dream and take my passion to new grounds!

The name A Bear Place comes from my desire to set aside a place for beautifully crafted bears to be discovered and adored. Being an avid collector of Teddy Bears myself, I have always held a very dear place for them in my heart.

A Bear Place is a place for bear lovers… Currently, we have over four hundred bears in our sales collection, showcasing a colorful spectrum of individual styles that is sure to thrill any teddy bear enthusiasts and new comers to the shop.

It is also the first of its kind in Singapore to provide tailored packages of bear-making workshops for various age groups. In the workshop, you will gain first-hand experience in how to make a bear from scratch, – from cutting the mohair, sewing the individual parts to sculpting the face and creating bear expression! For more advance learning, you may also have the opportunity to work with different types of materials and embellishments using unique crafting techniques that some of the bear artists use. As such, you will find a wide range of bear making supplies to cater for the needs of our new learners as well as passionate individuals who may be established bear-makers.
I am thankful to many bear artists from around the world who have shown me special care and support in realising this dream of mine, and crafted their signature bears exclusively for this shop. I am also very proud to feature within our collection bears from our very own local fine bear artists, beautifully created to stir the hearts of any bear enthusiasts. Emen Chen, an artist and a dear friend of mine, will be situated inhouse, looking to break new grounds with his fresh ideas and updated creations crafted exclusively for the shop.
Our doors are opened to all teddy bears collectors as well as those who want to learn how to make their very own special bears. The shop is located at The Central, 06 Eu Tong Sen Street, #02-24/25 (Opposite Clarke Quay, next to Swissoftel Merchant Court).
